Meet Andie and Mary
Andie and Mary are the dynamic duo in newborn photography. Spend a day with them at a mentoring session or a workshop and you will literally "steal their thunder." Andie is the new rock star in newborn photography and Mary is a more established photographer who has been creating gorgeous infant portraits since 1999. While their styles differ greatly, they do agree on one thing: You must be different to compete in today's market and you must price effectively in order to run a profitable business. Why reinvent the wheel when you can learn from two talented photographers? After all, two heads are better than one. We hope you can join us for one of our 2012 mentoring sessions or newborn workshops. New in 2012 will be a "Portfolio Building Workshop"

I am so glad that I was able to attend Steal Your Thunder Mentoring with Mary Buck and Andie Freeman. These two ladies are extremely talented!! No words can describe the amount of knowledge that I walked away with. This truly changed the way I look at my business and I am looking forward to applying what I have learned going forward. Baby posing was definitely one of my weaknesses and now I can proudly say I know how to do it and it seems easy! I would recommend this class for anyone and everyone looking to grow their business, learn newborn portrait techniques, and just to hang out with some fun gals! Thanks again for everything! Andie Mary
Andie Freeman is a photographer in Athens, GA that specializes in the beauty of newborn photography. A graduate of the University of Georgia, she became a professional motorcycle photographer in 2007 specializing in racing, motorcycle lifestyle and fine art photography. However, after getting pregnant in 2008 with her daughter Zoe, that quickly came to a halt. They really should call morning sickness "all-day" sickness. Confined to the couch for the majority of the first 16 weeks, Andie put the camera regrettably away. Then, in August 2008, tragedy struck. Andie's husband, Sean, was in a near fatal motorcycle accident. Since he was the driving force behind the fine art photography (i.e. the bike mover), the camera was forgotten. Andie focused solely on helping Sean get back to health and delivering a healthy baby girl. That was easier said that done in Andie's case. After a c-section at 38 weeks due to high blood pressure and then heart failure 4 days later, things slowly got back to normal. And Andie picked the camera back up to photograph Zoe at 8 days old. You can say that she was the baby that started it all. From that time on, Andie decided to leave the motorcycle photography behind and pursue a career in portraiture, specifically specializing in newborns. Over the past 2 years, Andie has photographed over 100 newborns ranging in age from 3 days to 4 weeks. She has even been present at the delivery of several of her special babies. She feels that it is such an honor to be a special part of each family's lives as they welcome their new addition into their home and family.
| Mary Buck is an established photographer in her community, but her love of photography began years ago when she entered college. Her first camera was an SLR film camera, the Olympus OM 1. After college, she doodled with landscape photography, black & whites, portraits, and stock photography while she worked full-time in the corporate world. As a way to fulfill her creative passion, she opened a portrait studio in 1995. Lightscapes Photographic Artwork, is located in Duluth, Georgia, just two blocks from her house. Mary is renowned for her down-to-earth business sense. She was a member of the PPA Studio Management Program for four years, where she mentored under Ann Monteith. She is currently a Certifed PPA Member and is working on her Craftsman Degree. A few years ago, she noticed that the photography industry was being inundated with new photographers, eager to learn the business, so she began to mentor in 2009. That led to workshops and educational materials on the business of portrait photography.
Mary is also author of several E-books which she has available at her online store:
Mary lives in Duluth with her husband Paul and her two children Brittany and Jonathan (when they are not at college). Mary has two pets, Jazpur, a Welsh Corgi, and Snickers, a tabby kitty cat. Her favorite saying is "Don't cry because it’s over, smile because it happened." Life should be lived to the fullest so don't be afraid to try new things. |
